Back in April when we first went to Cincinnati Children's and Evie had all those scopes done, they mentioned that her tonsils were overlarge and would need to be removed. I wasn't necessarily surprised since most CHARGE kiddos need to have them out, but I couldn't remember ever SEEING her tonsils. It was just information … Continue reading The Tonsils

Heading Home Soon
Starting the paperwork for discharge so we should be able to head out by this afternoon. Evie's lungs sound good and is down to just 2liters of O2. Thank you for all the prayers. We're so grateful this was a pretty mild case.
Getting There
Playing with all the toys Child Life brought up and talking up a storm. ENT came and took a look down her trach. She has a bit if scar tissue at the tip of the trach and combined with the swelling from the parainfluenza, that's what's causing the bleeding. He's very unconcerned which is good … Continue reading Getting There
Parainfluenza. Again.
Evie's been admitted for parainfluenza again. Last time it was type 3 and this time it's type 1. Awesome. The big concern is that we don't know which side of the worst we're on. I think everyone expects she'll get worse before she finally gets better. She seemed really dehydrated this morning, too which was … Continue reading Parainfluenza. Again.
Heading In
Last night went pretty well sleep-wise, but Evie's lungs aren't sounding very good this morning. We'll head into the ER soon for a chest xray and I expect she'll be admitted. She's still coughing a lot of blood out of the trach, too. Oddly, it seems to only happen at night, so I don't know … Continue reading Heading In
Still Home
Evie and I had a pretty good night. We almost took her in last night when she started needing more oxygen, but decided to try switching connectors so the oxygen would bleed into her humidity line closer to her trach and that made a big difference for her. We usually have it bleed in just … Continue reading Still Home
Add a Trach Infection
I'm getting to a point now where I feel like the second Evie gets sick, I should start her on some antibiotics because she ALWAYS comes down with a trach infection to add to the whole mess. Last night I started to smell the infection (yes, you can smell it. It's kind of odd) and … Continue reading Add a Trach Infection
Canceled
Evie's plastic surgeon decided we'd better cancel her surgery. Boo. He's right, of course. She needed a bit of O2 last night and we have no idea how this weekend will go. Aleyna is still pretty sick and coughing horribly, so that's not encouraging in regards to Evie. And even if both girls magically got … Continue reading Canceled
Figures
Less than a week before surgery so what has to happen? That's right. Evie has to get sick. Her sister spiked a fever on Monday morning and has a croupy cough and Evie has a fever now. Please just pray she can get over this quickly so we can proceed with the surgery. If she … Continue reading Figures
